Verdict: A strange method. Not entirely proven across all machines. Included here for info only, maybe useful if you can find a machine in an arcade somewhere!

Special Note:

An older Ace machine and there is some speculation as to whether the empty works and if you can find a £10 version and the early £15 versions.

Summary of Emptier:

Essentially the empty is based on a proposed free win in the machine, this win is obtained from 'super' barcode features ( 1 2 3 or 3 2 1) - the 'super' is attained when the bonus symbol appears between the 2 HI-LO reels in the centre of the board (see pic above). Apparently all these wins are free until the machine offers a jackpot trail off nudges - if a jackpot is forced on you then take it and leave!

The Emptier:

So basically you play your trails onto the feature board and collect 'super' barcodes only (collect £3 and £7 repeaters only). If these wins are free the machine should start to play a bit, watch out for the forced jackpot. Once you have taken 3 'super' barcode features recycle some money from the bank and keep doing so until the bank is built, when you are ready take a jackpot to kill the machine off. It should go on a long suck and recover for the next session.
