By their very nature these 'multiplayer' games can be very risky investments. The simplest and most effective to play is to insert just £10 and see if the first win produces a roll on the top reels. It is very difficult to tell if they are full. If after using £10 and you get nothing then you may as well walk, rather than throw £100+ chasing a tenner. We have seen many people plough £200+ in these machines - why?
Ideally your looking to play these over the long term and not the short term. By trying to catch a win off a £10 you are limiting your damage - how many times have you seen someone get a roll of £80+ from a few quid, probably more so than the regulars you see doing their money!
It has to be said there are not a great deal of quirks to these machines because of their simplistic nature, and the percentage control is as tight as a duck's arse - not much scope for manipulation. Everyone knows to leave 1 Nudge to time-out so a chosen reel will bring in a win or set up 2 ASTRAS or JP symbols as the case maybe. It does seem that the machine likes to bring in a win when you leave an X ASTRA X on the winline. Some players also like to think a clean win (all the O's above the XXX win) increases the chance of a roll on the top reels - but this is unproved.
To round it all off the machine does not like to show out, these new multiplayers seem very random, and it can be soul destroying to pay £50 for a roll up top that produces £2. Sometimes the machine will appear to buzz, dropping in frequent wins and nudge setups - however if any rolls produce £2 after £2 then the machine could be on a suck. One method is to knock back all XXX wins until an ASTRA (£5) or JP win is achieved - this may then start the 'streak' but can cost £80+ and the return can vary. Play lucky!

King Kebab Rechip:
The following is a streaking guide for playing re-chipped King Kebabs £15 JP. The method is not too effective on £25 versions!
Naturally the machine needs to be full (or no more than £10 short). You need to play strictly for the JP and NOT the KK top feature. Exchange only at the £5/6 mark on the cash ladder. This should produce 7 KNOCKOUTS - 10 are needed for the JP. Play until the first JP is produced - this may repeat. After this play for the next feature, you will be looking for a trail opportunity within a few credits - the machine may offer 5 NUDGES or the BONUS will do a selector which if buzzing will offer the JP. DO NOT TAKE this JP, instead select £5 and exchange into the trail, there you will have 2 KEBABS. The trail will allow a JP to gambled out, but only play for the third KEBAB or take MEGA KK if offered. The trail may sack you a couple of times when you attempt this, however another trail will be frequently offered. Once the MEGA becomes available it should produce at least £45.
NOTE: If after the initial JP you don't get the BONUS SELECTOR for the JP then the machine will not go anywhere - walk with the JP. On £25 versions the 10 KO rule applies, so a pushed TURBO GAMBLE could produce quick profit. If when playing a £25 and you get offered a BARCODE - the machine is buzzing!
Temple of Treasure:
Just a couple of quick notes regarding this classic of 99/00. Firstly there a probably not too many unchipped machines around and the £25 versions are very strange. Punting for the RED TOT on £15 can be very risky these days, as the machine forces a mid range dump to level out the machine - the machine used to have this mid range dump on the early chips but it could be ridden out.
Knocking back 1 or 2 RED TOT's is very stupid and many people got stung on this supposed method. We witnessed many arcade and service station episodes where £230+ was punted over!!

It does seem that the FOLLOW ME barcode can cheat on occasion!
Revolution:
For those who did not know, there was a free win on the P1 version of this machine - DOES NOT WORK NOW! P1's allowed you to gamble on the steps, when you got a true skill gamble you need to gamble for enough steps to ensure LOCOHOLD is attained off the feature. The 'win' from this feature is free, thus the process can be repeated until the machine runs empty. It will even offer JP's as the % is unaffected and it needs to compensate for your coin input. Vintage!
Spiker The Biker & 8 / 15 Tip:
A prime example of a little 'trick' put in by the manufacturer to buzz players up (works on various 27 way Barcrests). Naturally it can only be done when the machine offers it, but it can be a useful indication of the machine's JP potential, and a chance to show in front of your mates. When playing 27 way feature entry and you HOLD out on 2 symbols in view - if on the THIRD HOLD you have 2 matching symbols on the winline - HOLD them for the win. Very often £8 or £15, sometimes MELONS.
Also when on Spiker the Biker, play exclusively for RED HI-LO notes, don't try and be clever on the numbers as it will die under £15! if your first notes is only £15 play the for the next trail as it will usually give another HI-LO notes.
Arabian Knights & Clones Rechips:
Long gone are the 'SHAZAAM' days! In 2000 nealry all the Arabian Knights and clones were rechipped to stop them streaking! Frigging pathetic really, but in an era of refill keys and to many cooks spoiling the broth many chains and operators were sick of players dumping machines. The chips are very dirty and the streak is nonexistent, and kicks in on a random basis. Typical scenario is £50 in for first JP and then a mucky sequence of boards, a loss almost inevitably occurs. These days it's best to jump on and take nudge spinner to see if it goes anywhere, also if you are lucky you may get an IM for a quid!
Nudge Spinner:
An old and very simple trick for a quick JP if the machine can do it. Simply take the NUDGE SPINNER feature and if it goes £2, £3, £4, £5 then it will go all the way to the JP. If it goes say £2, £4, £3 then it ain't going to do the JP.
Follow Me:
Another classic, which can rip on occasion and on various machines. The machine will do a sequence of numbers based on the hold buttons. i.e. 12311232 - The player has to repeat the sequence using the HOLD buttons for a JP or stated prize. By using a mobile phone you can record the sequence in and then reproduce it on the machine!
Cash Code Feature:
This is a JP capable feature if the machine can afford it! Basically it should be taken if the machine is proving a bit sticky or it is offered from a quid or two in! It needs to be RED for it to have £25 JP potential. When taken it will start at £25 and you will have to guess the correct barcode (cash code) - there is no real correct code! If the code is wrong then the cash amount will step down - it can do this 5 times. The machine will pick an amount it can afford and simply match it to any code you enter. Can be useful and profitable!

A quick little quirk for playing the DRACS CASH feature. If the machine is not likely to streak or your in for a bit and it's looks grim you should take £10 on the first DRACS CASH, on the repeat you can then take the £15 for a £25. If you took the the £15 (JP) the first time then chances are the DRACS CASH will not repeat leaving you with £15 only!
Battle Axe Streak:
A little method to try and catch the random streak that this machine can produce. Many of us know that the machine cannot be forced - so the idea is to keep playing for £5 wins only. The machine has a block at this point, playing for the £5 wins can initiate the machine streak. Does not always work mind.
Gold Strike Tip:
Passed onto us from a player. Play only for MONEY MULTIPLIER if the machine is backing. For £15 - £20 credits keep taking the lowest amount from this feature until the streak is 'forced' out!

Play only for TURBO CASH, FRUIT LINES or RED STOP A WIN only. Do not try an force the streak as the rechipped machines can take £100's struggling inside straight jackets. In reel play on play for BOXES, select CHOOSE A WIN ( 1 2 3) and try for a win with BELLS above or BELOW or staggered within the winline. If you get this play for NORMAL or RED SUPERHOLD. Before the wide spread emptying of this machine, you could tell If it was worth playing as it would gamble upto £5 - £7 by gambling HI-LO on any number - sure beats that long trawl of gambling and losing at the £10 block before realising the JP cost you £40+.
Stop A Win Feature:
When RED this is a fairly easy STOP N STEP on the reels. However sometimes the feature will only offer £5 BARS as the largest win available as the REELS are all misaligned. To get around this you need to miss the win and the reels will respin and set up a lower bar win, miss this and another low BAR win is offered - miss this and the reels become factory aligned for an easy JP! (ie all wins available).
Turbo Cash Feature:
A lovely little feature early on for nicking £15 JP's and test BFM machines. Sometimes will only produce £4 - £5 but could be regularly gambled out to £15! without having to fuck around on those wonderfully designed BFM trails. Sadly there is an evident sticky block at £14 -£16 on the new £25 BFM's and the feature will rarely produce a JP. Some rechipped £15 machines tend to stick around the £7 - £9 and quickly gamble to nothing. Still useful mind!
Cash Dash Feature:
A tricky skill feature that can produce £10 If not a JP. It is kind of a fast cash feature, where you have to HIT each cash increment to have a crack at the next one! Can be good with a bit of practice!
Fruit Lines:
For BFM machines with this feature it can be a treat when you have a BELL formation close and cannot get SUPER HOLD (red or normal). It can also be useful for snatching £10 wins. When playing the trail always check the reel formation!
Hidden Boxes:
BFM reels have overprinted boxes that offer a special feature when spun in. The best one to take is CHOOSE A WIN (1 2 3) as you can play for the ORANGES or CHERRIES to get the BELLS above or below the WINLINE. From here you will know on the feature If a JP is available without spending hours try to gamble it out off the HI-LO!
Who want's to be a legionnaire?:
To squeeze more out of an IM, you should when you finally or luckily get one take the WINNING STREAK feature from the central feature shots. If this pays less than £16 then the next trail should be an IM for the JP!. Thus you get the JP and a bit before the machine goes totally flat again!
Champ Soccer & Clones:
An old trick (for info only!) to tell If a BWB machine is JP/Streak happy. To do this put 5p in, the outer ring of symbols will be BLUE or RED. If they are RED the machine is ready to force for the JP. Once the JP is attained the streak will start and you will get funny sounding holds, The streak will stop when the funny holds stop, and the outer symbols turn back to BLUE again! Classic!

Cannonball Run Shuffles:
When you get a trail, you will be awarded a either NUDGES, BLASTS, WINSPINS or CUT THROAT CASHES (or whatever they are called). The number of which awarded depends on how high you exchange in or he happiness of the machine! Anyway, once you gamble on the CASH LADDER once you can SHUFFLE the reels If you have either BLASTS or NUDGES, each shuffle takes 1 BLAST or NUDGE. The key is to HOLD the reels you want to keep first and then shuffle to try and obtain a SUPERHOLD or NUDGE setup. It only likes to HOLD on the shuffle BEFORE you have reached the SUPERHOLD feature. Numbering:
Many JPM machines of 99/00 had a £5 block, this block would cause the gamble to lose. When losing on the HI-LO, 2 numbers would not be shown as the reel span losing wins. For instance on ARCADIA and HI-IMPACT it was 3 and 11. If when playing (every £2 or so) these numbers were being lost on (i.e shown) then it was worth buzzing these machines for the SKILL FEATURES. Despite being hush, hush you still had to be good on the features to make good money from a knowledge of numbering! Pity some people at the ATEI had to goad JPM.... Look at the shit now!

If you do find any good ARCADIA machines you may be able to use the following your advantage. When playing you may get an OKEY DOKEY after nudging and getting the first A lit up. If there is a BLUE BAR on the middle reel and one 3 nudges away - DON'T LET EM SPIN. Instead HOLD the 2 reels and let the other one drop in! You will find you get 4 NUDGES and the £10 BAR win is on!

Whether this was fixed on test - we don't know. But after forcing the first IM out it is possible to get 1 or 2 further JP's by playing for them on the reels. Try it! 3 HOLDS or Nudges will do the trick. You sense this as you will get the JP's coming close If you start holding them!
